Description
Along the Neebine is a beautiful work that demonstrates Hugh Sawrey’s abilities to capture the essence of the country where he worked. This scene is located on the Neebine river, one of the water ways that form part of the Channel Country of western QLD. It is located roughly between the towns of St George and Cunnamulla and shows the vast difference in vegetation from the surrounding plains. In such water ways which, for most of the time, are dry except for chains of billabongs or waterholes, there are river red gums that offer shade and a cool respite from the baking plains of the surrounding country.
